The copyist and the time guardian are additionally enabled in a gathering. Representatives cooperate consequently it reinforces their relationship with one another and with the leader.in a gold mine gathering, anybody can voice their supposition and what they feel about a circumstance like recently recruited employees, cutback and cutoff times. This improves communication.in expansion, they have a strategy where part are to each imparting to one another and not at one another conversing with one another and not at one another. This empowers individuals to hear e ach out other.  â â â â â â â â â â To summarize, bunches are the existence blood of associations. Plunking down with gathering of individuals is frequently the correct method to process the data and accomplish objectives. Gatherings are better since they can think in greater verity and they can process more information. Sadly some of the time the targets are not understood (kayser, 2011). Then again, the gathering may understand its maximum capacity and produce a better yield which energizes individuals than be focused on it and they feel happy with it. Accordingly mining bunch gold is an exceptionally amazing procedure. References Kayser, T. A. (2011). The World Of The Holocaust - 853 Words

One common assumption that people make about the Holocaust is that the atrocity was an event unique to world history. It is not often taught in United States history classes that there were events previous to World War II that set precedence that allowed the Holocaust to occur under Nazi Germany rule. Generally, history classes do not explore colonialism outside of the United States, so it is no surprise that very few people are aware of German colonialism in Africa, let alone how Germany’s actions there served as a precursor to the Nazi policy of genocide years later. By examining the events that took place under German rule in South West Africa, one can gain a better understanding of the mentality behind the Nazi Germany genocide policy, as discussed in Isabel Hull’s article Military Culture and the Production of â€Å"Final Solutions† in the Colonies: The Example of Wilhelminian Germany. In order to see how the events in South West Africa served as a precursor for the Holocaust later in Europe, one must first examine the practices and mentality of the German soldiers in the colonies. Before the military policy of â€Å"final solutions† was even implemented, German military culture propagated concepts that would later be used in the policy and eventually back home in Europe (Hull, 160). This factor is what made German colonialism different from French, British, or even Belgian colonialism. The Ten Pieces Of Knowledge - 1080 Words

Ten pieces of knowledge I deem valuable. I chose very few specific historical facts, but instead tried to keep general since I believe that having a proper framework for analyzing history is much more important than merely giving facts 1) Culture, language, and religion never static. For example, 2,000 years ago the English were tribal pagans living in Northern Germany and the English they spoke would be gibberish to a modern English speaker. 2) There is no one version of history. It is important when studying history to keep a critical eye out for potential biases. 3) There is much more in history that we do not know than what we do. Unfortunately, most people who have ever lived were illiterate so there is a vast amount of information lost in time. Furthermore, even during times when literacy was more common, due to historical biases, embellishment, and propaganda it is often very difficult to discern the truth. 4) History is connected. People like to categorize history into eras and regions, but this is too simplistic. People born in the early renaissance would have had no idea that they were living in a different historical era than their grandparents. 5) History is not written by the winners. History is written by those who can write and whose writings have been preserved. 6) Ancient Greece was not a single state. I believe that since ancient Greece is so important people shouldShow MoreRelatedShakespeare Is a Fraud1232 Words   |  5 PagesShakespeare did just that from 1564 – 1616. This Be The Essay Essays - Literature, Poetry, Poetic Form

This Be The Essay Essays - Literature, Poetry, Poetic Form This Be The Essay This Be The Verse is a rollercoaster of different tones. The general idea behind this poem seems to be to amuse the reader with its simple and obscene language, making it easy to quote the poem. I, however, believe there's a deeper meaning behind the many changes of tone. Therefore, I will show how Philip Larkin constantly changes the tone of This Be The Verse to illustrate the stages of growing up. By going through the three stanzas and its tones I will explain how the tones are connected to life stages. The poem starts off in a harsh tone: They fuck you up, your mum and dad'. With the use of such strong language the reader's attention is instantly grabbed. The sentence is constructed in a simple manner, with only one-syllable words. This and the choice of words let the reader know that the poem they are about to read will be anything but boring. The angry tone of this first stanza represent the teen phase of life, a phase in which many young people find themselves angry very quickly. This is also a time where the typical adolescent will be wanting to break away from the family. This is also a time where the typical adolescent will be wanting to break away from the family. Then the tone changes from harsh to understanding in the second stanza. But they were fucked up in their turn' signals that Larkin no longer blames the parents, but instead the grandparents. What is said is that parents were also damaged by their own parents who spent their time either drunk (soppy-stern') or quarrelling with one another (and half at one another's throats'). This represents a never-ending cycle of kids copying bad behaviors from their parents and passing on their faults in their turn. The understanding tone of this stanza represents going into adulthood, a time where a lot of anger is replaced with understanding. People in midlife often think about the deeper meaning of their lives so they can move on with new understanding. Finally, the last stanza ends in a bitter tone. Man hands on misery to man' is no longer referring to anyone in particular but instead the entire human race. With It deepens like a coastal shelf' Larkin implies that this misery is a problem that will only get worse with the time. The author uses a simile with a coastal shelf': he compares the growing negative influence on younger generations with how a coastal shelf grows deeper in the sea. His ambiguous advice in the next sentence to Get out as early as you can' leaves the reader wondering if they are meant to either cut ties with their parents or get out' by killing themselves. This last stanza and its bitter tone represent the last stage of someone's life and the bitterness that often comes with it. So, the different tones of the three stanzas of this poem are in fact connected to the different stages in one's life. It also aligns up with the messages of each stanza, like the bitterness one would feel at the end of their life in the last stanza.

Critically assess the changes taking place in business approaches to Essay

Critically assess the changes taking place in business approaches to sustainability, including the roles of NGOs and national go - Essay Example However, presently, it has been noticed that the companies are developing policies and goals considering the regional and national goals and also, focus towards sustainability rather than giving importance to piecemeal. There are examples of various individual firms, which are working in collaboration with the NGOs and even government-regulated organisations, in order to achieve corporate goals sustainably (Ekwueme, Egbunike and Onyali, 2013). However, before discussing the change or shift in the business environment towards sustainability, the implication of business sustainability needs to be understood. Business sustainability is also known as the way to manage people through a set procedure by which the financial, environmental and social risks are handled and the opportunities and obligations are met. Business sustainability impacts three most significant aspects namely, planet, people and profits (Zu and Kaynak, 2012). Business health not only signifies the financial health of the company, but also the ability of the business to survive shocks. Business which creates value economically and also, contributes towards a healthy ecosystem and stable communities are considered to be a sustainable business. Further in this study, the discussion would throw light on the changes occurring in the business environment, where organisations are moving towards sustainability (Gadenne, et al., 2002). CHANGES TAKING PLACE IN BUSINESS APPROACHES TO SUSTAINABILITY Sustainability and implication of sustainable development in business The notion behind sustainable development has received increasing acknowledgment, yet it is a new concept for various business executives. A well-accepted principle is protecting the capital base of the organisation. Yet these organisations do not think of extending this practice towards the human resource or nature. Sustainable development signifies achieving those potentials which can be integrated into the measurement system and planning of the organisation. Sustainability development theory has a collaboration of various theories, which assist in bring about transformation. However, in this case, only the modernisation theory would be discussed. Modernisation theory depicts the analysis of contemporary ways to eliminate the obstacles by availing modern ways to progress (Hakala and Zsuzsanna, 2012). The manager at Chevron Corporation dealing with environmental affairs believes that environment is indeed a significant issue which presents with both opportunities as well as challenges for the business (Soderbaum, 2008.). It has been put forward by OECD that the practices and attitudes of sustainable change reveal a realistic prospect towards harmonising the economic and environmental considerations. It has been observed by managers that pursuing sustainable strategies is a sign of superior business sense (Eisenhardt, 2000). The concept of sustainable development has also been integrated into the process and policies of business, which are assisting in re-designing the management methods. Two aspects have come forward in sustainable management methods such as, accountability towards non-traditional stakeholders and continuous improvement in the reporting practices. Governance is becoming an increasingly important factor. The stakeholders’

Career Development Plan Part 4 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Career Development Plan Part 4 - Essay Example This paper analyses the new compensation plan at InterClean Corporation. A well structure compensation plan reduces employee turnover and increases corporate profits since it provides adequate incentive for an employee to increase their productivity. The old InterClean had a sales staff that got awarded a sales commission for the sales an employee obtained. This system force the employee to think about individual results, since the salesperson pay would increment based on his/hers achievements. Since the company offered simple product this was a viable strategy. This no longer applies to the new business model the company is implementing. Teamwork is now more important than ever and long term satisfaction of the customer is a strategic focus that must be pursed in order to achieve customer retention. In the solution based business follow up contracts with the clients generated a lot of income for the enterprise. There are two types of rewards systems that cam be used by a company. These two types of rewards are intrinsic rewards and extrinsic rewards. Intrinsic rewards are positively valued work outcomes that the individual receives as a result of work outcomes, while extrinsic rewards are positively valued work outcomes that are given to an individual or group by some other person or source in the setting (Schermerhorn & Hunt & Osborn, 2003). The total compensation plan the company will offer has to satisfy the needs of both the employee and the firm. The firm does not want to establish a plan that does not encourage professional development and teamwork. The new compensation plan the company will offer to its salespeople will be profit sharing plan with a group merit pay element as well as other individual incentives. In a profit sharing plan a company contributes a portion of its pre-tax profits to a pool that will be distributed among the eligible employees (Hr-guide, 2008). The profit sharing at InterClean will be calculated

Roman Fever :: essays research papers

Last Word When it comes to the art of conversation men and women employ different strategies when carrying on same sex conversations. In the short story â€Å"Roman Fever† by Edith Wharton, the two main characters appear to be having a battle of wits. While on holiday in Rome two people become reacquainted with each other. Both parties have lost their spouse. The dialogue opens with one speaker making light conversation. This person is simply making nonchalant statements, possibly seeking a reply with a mutual agreement about the topic. Instead the second person replies back with an implied personal ending to the statement taking the control away from the first speaker. This causes the first speaker to reflect for a moment. Well executed, the second person has once again politely changed the subject to avoid a confrontation. In the company of each other, silence is a device they both use. One uses it for opportunistic reasons, the other to conceal. When the conversation starts again it seems as if the couple is carefully setting the stage for a mental battle of, who can out do who, the classiest. This is where the genders split as to how they deal with conflict. Usually two civilized gentlemen engaged in a conversation that involves intimacy tend to keep those personal emotions to themselves. If directly asked such a question the other gentleman would probably state that he chooses not to discuss it. If men do not want to talk about a subject that involves emotions they come right out and say, â€Å"I don’t want to talk about this and that’s final†. Respecting the other man’s statement, no further discussions involving that topic would take place. As far as a strategy for control of conversation, men are not inclined to be evasive with each other. They get right to the point without a lot of chit-chat in between. Men do not try to confuse one another with inferences or misleading statements, to them it would be illogical. With reference to the two women in â€Å"Roman Nights† Mrs. Slade and Mrs. Ansley literally battle each other in the most feminine of ways, through words. Mrs. Slade admits to her friend that Delphin did not write the letter, she did. This emotionally crushes Mrs. Ansley. Now that the topic is finally out in the open the two women prepare for a game of wits. After the first round of surprises Mrs.

Same-sex Marriage in the Philippines

Most senatorial bets against same-sex marriage; Enrile is lone supporter ANDREO CALONZO, GMA NewsMarch 18, 2013 12:48pm 145 6 838 (Updated 11:17 p. m. ) Most senatorial bets for the May 2013 polls rejected the legalization of same-sex marriage in the Philippines, with Cagayan Rep. Jack Enrile the only candidate expressing support for gay union, interviews conducted by GMA News Online revealed. Twenty-four of the 33 senatorial hopefuls said they are not keen on giving same-sex couples the chance to get married in the country, where over 80 percent of the citizens are Roman Catholics.Bangon Pilipinas senatorial candidate Eddie Villanueva, a religious leader who founded the Jesus is Lord Church, said he is against same-sex marriage because it is against Biblical teachings. â€Å"Sabi ng Good Book, huwag gayahin ‘yung nangyari sa Sodom and Gomorrah dahil darating ang paggunaw sa isang bansa ‘pag ‘yun ay ginawa,† Villanueva said in an interview. Ang Kapatiran Part y senatorial bet Rizalito David, meanwhile, said same-sex marriage is â€Å"against natural law. David's party lists in its political platform a â€Å"spiritual dimension† to â€Å"seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. † The issue on same-sex marriage recently came back to public attention with the election of a new head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis. As a cardinal, the new pontiff openly opposed a bill to legalize same-sex unions in Argentina. He even described child adoption by couples of the same-sex as a form of discrimination to the child. A chance for happiness' Only one senatorial hopeful, Cagayan Rep. Jack Enrile, said he supports the legalization of gay unions in the Phil ippines. â€Å"Let's give everybody a chance for happiness. Let us not discriminate. If it is your inclination to be happy with a man, why discriminate against that? † Enrile said in a separate interview. He said his view on same-sex marriage was influenced by the years he spent living in the United States. â€Å"I have seen in other countries couples of the same sex who have lived very upright lives and raised children,† he explained. Legal recognition' Makabayan senatorial hopeful and Bayan Muna Rep. Teodoro Casino, who did not have a categorical stand on the issue, said he is open to giving some sort of â€Å"legal recognition† to couples of the same sex. â€Å"It's something I still have to study and learn. I'm willing to hear both sides, what the benefits and disadvantages are. I have an open mind,† Casino said. Liberal Party senatorial bet Paolo Benigno â€Å"Bam† Aquino IV, who rejected same-sex marriage, meanwhile said he is open to giving â€Å"some rights† to â€Å"long-term† same-sex couples.Former Akbayan Rep. Risa Hontiveros, who is also running under the administration slate, for her part said she â€Å"upholds the rights of same-sex couples to form families,† but added that passing an anti-discrimination bill in the country may be the proper first step towards allowing gay unions in the Philippines. — DVM/RSJ, GMA News Don’t expect Obama’s endorsement of same-sex marriage to have an impact here. It was a historical and an inspiring gesture, one that would galvanize a changing cultural perspective on same-sex relationships inside and outside America. Here, it would spark debates on our readiness for same-sex marriage, but don’t hold your breath: it won’t alter anything here fundamentally. Don’t even think that this would suddenly lead President Aquino to push his allies in Congress to enact a law legalizing same-sex marriage. It just won’t happ en. This is not to say that the social attitudes and behavior of Filipinos toward homosexuality and same-sex marriage are not changing. They are, and social media has triggered a shift in how we digest controversial topics that in the past have been filtered and controlled by traditional institutions, such as the Church and our schools.I’m not saying that Filipinos are now more pro-LGBT, but the overall mood is changing, and there’s more openness to engage in an issue that is still otherwise considered taboo. Social media has democratized access to a wider range of narratives and stories on LGBTs and made them part of our common experiences, creating a climate that could help dismantle oppressive stereotypes about homosexuality. The bullying of LGBT kids in American schools, for instance, a Canadian transgender joining the Miss Universe, the coming out of Hollywood celebrities – these have all catalyzed conversations here. And while we know that these happened el sewhere, we have embraced the universal elements of these stories. More importantly, social media has given us access to participate in these conversations. To respond to a homophobic slur in the past meant writing press releases or letters to the editors, the fate of which would depend on the mood of the editors. Today, Facebook and Twitter could help anyone – the in-your-face LGBT activist, the closeted bakla, and their fag hags – push alternative perspectives on LGBTs, and influence how opinion gatekeepers and icons see the issue. Why the difficulty? If social attitudes are gradually shifting, why then is it hard to push for LGBT rights and same-sex marriage here in the Philippines? Many would automatically blame the Catholic taliban, and how it has been trying to control our political institutions. I think it is a wrong framing of the problem, and it grants the Catholic hierarchy a degree of influence that doesn’t exist. The Church has no control over public opinion, as proven by the continuing popularity of the RH Bill despite the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines's opposition to it and by the failure of the Catholic Church to mobilize the so-called â€Å"Catholic vote. What we perceive to be the Church’s political influence in fact indicates a fundamental weakness in our political institutions, a democratic flaw that makes our system beholden to interest groups like the Catholic taliban. The Church is powerful; the problem is that the state is weak. Legal recognition of same-sex partnerships, whether through marriage or civil unions, would not happen by engaging or reforming the Catholic hierarchy. It is after all the business of the Church hierarchy to be dogmatic, and we should just let it collapse under the weight of its internal contradictions. We should be engaging and reforming the state and make it modern, inclusive, and truly representative. Strategic battleground For the LGBT community, that would require a change in strategy. One, it means that LGBTs must reframe the debate on homosexuality along secular and non-religious terms. While I understand why Catholic LGBTs want to carve a more tolerant space within the Catholic faith, the more strategic battleground is in the Constitution, not the Bible.Same-sex marriage is understandably a sensitive religious issue, but it is above all about our sectarian values – about basic fairness and our constitutional rights, about human dignity regardless of the sex of the people we love. Two, we need to be more forthright about gay love and gay sex. For many years, LGBT activists have skirted the issue of same-sex partnerships and gay marriage as a non-priority, relegating it under more crucial issues, like discrimination in schools and the workplace. This sends the wrong signal – that same-sex partnerships are secondary and unimportant, when ironically the root of discrimination against LGBTs is the rejection of same-sex partnerships , both the sexual and romantic sides of it. We need to embrace gay sex and gay love and feel less guilty about them. A modern state, embracing gay sex and gay love. Who said that marriage is easy? – Rappler. com (The author is coordinator of Akbayan's LGBT Collective and a member of the Philippine National AIDS Council. ) BY JONAS BAGAS POSTED ON 05/11/2012 4:04 PM | UPDATED 05/13/2012 10:45 PMUpdated March 2013 Quick facts on key provisions State law and/or constitutional provision limits marriage to relationships between a man and a woman: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California*, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming California voters adopted a constitutional provision li miting marriage to relationships between a man and a woman in November 2008. This provision was challenged in federal court and ruled unconstitutional. Enforcement of this decision has been delayed pending a U. S. Supreme Court decision on the case. Supreme Court hearings are scheduled for March 2013 and a decision is expected by June 2013. State issues marriage licenses to same-sex couples: Connecticut, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Vermont, Washington and the District of ColumbiaStates allows civil unions, providing state-level spousal rights to same-sex couples: Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, New Jersey, Rhode Island Three of these states (Delaware, Hawaii and Illinois) also have laws limiting marriage to relationships between a man and a woman. Note: In Connecticut, Vermont and New Hampshire, same-sex marriage has replaced civil unions. State grants nearly all state-level spousal rights to unmarried couples (domestic partnerships)*: California, Neva da, Oregon, Washington** **Effective June 30, 2014 domestic partnerships in Washington will be limited to couples who are 62 years of age or older.State provides some state-level spousal rights to unmarried couples (domestic partnerships)*: Hawaii, Maine, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia State legislatures have been deeply involved in the public debates about how to define marriage and whether the official recognition of â€Å"marriage† should be limited to relationships involving one man and one woman or that same-sex couples should also be entitled to â€Å"marriage. † State legislatures have gone both ways in this debate: either enacting â€Å"defense of marriage† laws and constitutional provisions or, going the opposite direction, adopting laws allowing same sex marriage.Five states have adopted civil unions for same-sex couples that provide the same legal rights as marriage. Most states have adopted prohibitions of same-sex marriage. Most states do so by adopting â€Å"defense of marriage† language that defines marriage in their state constitution and/or state law in a way similar to the language in the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) —â€Å"the word ‘marriage' means only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife. † Other states prohibit same sex marriages or marriages between persons of the same sex or gender.Thirty states have placed that language in their state constitutions (26 of these states also have statutory provisions adopting this language). A further eight states have statutory language adopting the restrictive language. Note that this count does include California, where federal courts have invalidated a 2008 initiative that added constitutional language defining marriage as limited to unions involving one man and one woman. The challenge to that constitutional provision is to be heard by the U. S. Supreme Court in 2013. Nine states and the District of Columbia currently allow same-sex marriages. In Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Iowa, the states’ highest courts ruled that the state constitution required that same-sex couples be accorded the same marriage rights as opposite-sex couples. In Vermont, New Hampshire, the District of Columbia and New York, Maryland and Washington, legislative bodies have passed statutory changes that allow same-sex marriages. In Maine, the legislature passed a same-sex marriage law in 2009, which was repealed in a voter referendum. In 2012, Maine voteres reversed course and approved a same-sex marriage statute. Same-sex marriages are currently being performed in those states.Several states have also expanded the legal rights available to spouses in same-sex relationships while also limiting marriage to opposite-sex couples with civil unions and domestic partnerships. Same Sex Marriages in the Philippines (Affrmative) Resolved: Same sex marriages should be legalized in the Philippines. Let me start with a quote. If homosexuality is a disease, let's all call in queer to work: â€Å"Hello. Can't work today, still queer. † That was by Robin Tyler. Instead of saying hey, I’m pulling off a sickie today, you say hey, sorry if I can’t go to work—I’m still gay. Can you imagine that kind of situation? If so, let’s start asking ourselves today. Why do homosexuals have to be discriminated anyway? Do they harm you or anyone in the society you live in? Same sex marriages have been an issue in the Philippines for a long time now, but since we live in a predominantly Christian country, people simply avoid further discussion of such. According to the 1987 Constitution of the Republic of Philippines, Article 2, Section 6; the separation of the church and state shall be inviolable. Meaning, no matter how grave the social issue may be, the church can never contradict the decision of the government and vice versa. It has been widely understood that the Roman Cat holic church will always be against same sex marriages considering the fact that their beliefs and principles are based from the sacred scripture. However, citizens who do not opt to engage into religious ceremonies have the option to be conjugated by means of civil wedding. It has been said under Article 7 of The Family Code of the Philippines, that marriage may be officiated by a person other than a priest, rabbi, imam or minister. Included are any incumbent members of the judiciary within the court's jurisdiction.
